Hi, I'm Steve Honey, a therapist based in St. Pete, Florida and I see clients throughout the state via telehealth.
I have spent my career working with people facing some of the most demanding chapters, both personally and professionally, of their lives. I work with adults navigating grief, loss, addiction, self-compassion, relationship challenges, and the everyday difficulty of feeling stuck or anxious.

My Background

Entrepreneurship has been part of my life since I was a kid — I grew up around it everyday, and spent seven years working as a real estate agent before returning to school to pursue clinical social work with the goal of building my own private practice. I understand the isolation, the constant decision-making, and the pressure that comes with building, and maintaining something.

How I Work

My approach is rooted in a strengths-based, person-in-environment perspective. I draw from existential frameworks, client-centered humanistic approaches, solution-focused therapy, and psychodynamic insight. All of that is to say, I believe each of us is inherently resilient and capable of change. I acknowledge and appreciate that we each have a unique nature, while at the same time acknowledging the influence that our environment and experiences can have on us. Including the meaning we place on our experience.

My approach is flexible and tailored to you. I do not tend to follow strict rulebooks, however always reference evidenced based practices and approaches to health, wellbeing, and change.

The honest truth...

I won't sugar coat it, change is not easy and getting to the root can be painful, but you've gotten this far and it's worth it to keep going. You are not broken.

You've already done the hard work of recognizing something needs to change. That awareness alone is something worth something. Whether you're working through something heavy or just trying to reconnect with what matters, whether you and I work together or not, I encourage you to continue.
