Stephen Honey, LCSW

Hi, I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and mental health therapist. I work with adults and Veterans of all ages navigating addiction, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, or simply feelings of listlessness or anxiety in the challenges of everyday life.

I earned both my undergraduate degree in pre-law with a minor in psychology and graduate degree in Clinical Social Work from Florida State University. I have had the opportunity to work with and serve some of the most amazing people I've ever met in various work environments including private, group, residential, hospital and emergency settings. Today, my mission is simple: to provide a safe, supportive, and open environment where you can do the work—your work—at your own pace.

My approach to therapy is rooted in a strengths-based, person-in-environment perspective. I integrate client-centered humanistic approaches, cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic insight, and the transtheoretical model of change. I tailor my work to the unique needs of each person, because healing is rarely one-size-fits-all.

In all, life can be incredibly difficult, messy, and overwhelming—but it can also be meaningful, joyful, beautiful and good. I have found that change, even for the better is difficult because it represents the "unknown." It's all to easy to fall into comfortable traps of maladaptive thinking and behaving and it can grow difficult to see a way out even when we know something must change. I won't sugar coat it, this journey will take effort and support for the good to become more visible, but we are here for it. That’s the space therapy holds: a place to uncover, untangle, and make room for what’s possible.

If there is one message that I have, it's that you are not broken. If you have gotten this far it demonstrates that you have done some introspection and have recognized that something in your life needs to change. Or maybe something is missing. This introspection alone is a strength and a great place to start. Whether or not we work together, let me encourage you to continue and congratulate you on your journey so far.

Whether you’re working through something heavy or just trying to reconnect with what matters, I’m here to help.
